Tips/TricksWhen calling Virgin Mobile, it is important to remember that the representatives are trained not to refund any plan and it is a very confusing process for the rep to refund you a credit card transaction or for any plan.
If you are requesting money back from virgin mobile, the representatives can only credit up to $10. So if your rep is hesitant to refund you, ask to speak with a team lead or supervisor. A team lead can credit up to $25 and a supervisor $50. Unfortunately, for a refund over $50, no one in the call center will be able to offer you the refund and you will need to write the corporate office.
But, if you do catch a incompetent rep, just remember you can scam an easy $10 credit from them with some blatant social engineering.
And, if you have been denied refunds in the past from Virgin Mobile and feel like they stole money from you, well... they did :-P... I've seen someone sign up for the $99.99 plan accidentally, and 5 minutes later switch to the $49.99 plan. Guess what... No refund for that.

Call Virgin Mobile from your phone for Free
Tips/TricksIf you need to get a hold of Virgin Mobile AYS from your handset, try calling using *86, *VM, or 611 from your handset. Any of those three short codes will connect you to Virgin Mobile and you will not have any minutes (or money) deducted from your account for the call.
If you call using the 1-888-322-1122 number, your account will be billed for the call, regardless of what the At Your Service Representative may tell you.
Get free ringtones for your Virgin Mobile phone
Tips/TricksThere are two ways to get free ringtones for your virgin mobile phone. The most common method for getting free ring tones is to sign up for a web browsing plan. Then go to say Limewire and download some ringtones. Upload the ringtones to putfile and write down the URL to the file. After you upload the file, type the URL into your phone and you will be able to save the ringtone to your virgin mobile cell phone.
Or, if you really need lots and lots of long free ringers, you could get a Slider Sonic and with the data cable you could transfer over as many ringtones as you want at no cost.
Every once in awhile virgin mobile will release a free ringtone to customers that they can claim with a promo code. If you have one of these codes, just go to VirginXL / VirginXtras and choose the ringtone, enter your promo, and enjoy your no cost ringtone.
Virgin Mobile USA Sugar Mamma
Tips/TricksSugar Mamma is a new program by Virgin Mobile USA that allows customers to earn bonus minutes that they can use towards minutes and text messaging. There are a couple things that you need to know about the minutes/money you get from Sugarmamma.
The minutes are added to your promotional minutes. This means they can not be redeemed for a replacement phone, and if you change your service offer you can actually loose your promotional minutes.
So if your on the 18 cent a minute offer and change your plan to a monthly reoccuring charge, you will loose these additional minutes.
This may sound like a good way to get some extra minutes of air time, but the air time you earn doesn't really make it worth while.
Why watch a 30 second commercial just for a single minute of air time? If you need the airtime that bad you might as well throw your phone away.
The funniest thing about this program is I have seen accounts with 100's of sugarmomma minutes. What happens is they have all these Momma minutes and they say that a ringtone didn't download... Seeing all the bonus minutes on their account, it makes the reps not want to give any more credits and they are usually denied the credit even though they may have an honest issue.
There also is no longer a cap on the minutes you can earn with sugar mamma, and if there is, it will be gone within the next month.
Keep your time and let virgin mobile keep their airtime, it's not worth it
Get a free replacement charger from Virgin Mobile
Tips/TricksVirgin Mobile does not stock "replacement phone chargers" nor does the manufacturers warranty cover your phones charger. BUT- If you ask nicely, you can get a free charger. Charger's normally run about 29.99 from Virgin (more than most of their phones cost!), but when you ask nicely, you may get a rep to send out a charger to you at no cost, you wont even have to pay shipping.
Kyocera (keyocera) chargers are usually the hardest to get a hold of as I had to call for 2 weeks to get a charger for an Oystr (it was out of stock), but I was able to get an Audiovox charger, US Starcom Chargers, and a Nokia charger sent out to me within a week. You gotta love how bad these chargers are, they break within 30 days in my experience.

Power Cycle (reset) your Virgin Mobile / Boost Mobile phone

Sometimes Virgin Mobile phones and Boost Mobile phones just wont work right. Maybe you can't send a text message, you cant get any service or your screen just isn't showing any bars. There's a lot of issues you could be having with your phone. There's something about cheap phones and resetting them. Scroll below for instructions on how to reset your cell phone.
If you've ever called boost mobile or virgin mobile, you've probably been told to reboot your phone. This is because it cures 90% of the problems you may be having with your cellular phone. If this doesn't fix your cell phone, you may want to try reprogramming it.
To reset your mobile phone, do the following:
- Remove your battery from the phone while it is turned on
- With the battery out, hold the power key for 15 seconds
- Let go of the power key and reinsert your battery
- Power the phone back up normally
