What makes this virgin mobile phone rental program different than the other phone rentals in the UK, is that Virgin Mobile was asking for feedback on the idea. It looks like VM may consider renting and leasing cell phones in certain markets.

I know there are a lot of businesses that already do this in the UK, where mobile phone retailers are a bit cheaper already. Mobile phone retailers in the UK have already embraced the concept of renting out phones, but is the US ready for this? And honestly, who is going to rent a $20 - $50 phone anyways?

I'm sure this will fade away, but I just wanted to discuss the concept of renting phones in the US, as it's a really interesting concept for a pre paid provider.

Virgin Mobile USA Going Public.. Virgin Mobile USA began operating in the USA in 2002 and is one of the first pre-paid providers in the US. Virgin Mobile has already grown to 5 million users.

Virgin MobileThe IPO (Initial Public Offering) date has yet to be announced.

Date of IPO and more information to come at midnight tomorrow.

Text Bundles to become Messaging Bundles

In the next couple weeks you should notice that Virgin Mobile is renaming their Txt Bundles to Messaging Bundles. What does this mean for you?

When you purchase a Messaging Plan as opposed to the soon to be old Text Plan, you will not only get Text messages but Picture Messages, Email messages, and Mobile Aim Service (also coming soon).

So, no longer will you be stuck with just 1000 txt messages, you will have 1000 text, picture, email, or Aim messages, and you won't have to purchase a seperate email plan from Virgin. Also, when you send a text, picture, email, or mobile aim message, it will take only 1 message from your bundle.

In the next couple days you should begin receiving alerts on your mobile phone informing you of the change and giving you the opportunity to go ahead and switch to the new bundles.

Bundle prices will stay the same at:

 $1.99 - Any 50 messages

 $4.99 - Any 200 messages

 $9.99 - Any 1000 messages

Side Note: If you activated your phone and are unable to check your balance on your phone, send text picture or email messages, or access VirginXtras or VirginXL, you need to contact Virgin Mobile At Your Service (1-888-322-1122) and let them know. When you activated or swapped your phone, your provisioning wasn't set up correctly. You can also reach Virgin Mobile Toll-free and without any sort of charge by dialing *VM or *86 on your handset.

Get a new phone for half price!

So you have a popular mobile cell phone provider that markets itself to drug dealers and virgins. Your phone is named after a shellfish from the ocean and it really sucks. Maybe you have a phone that you bought 8 years ago to use with this provider.

And you really wany to get a new phone for cheap....

Well, starting this month, this company will be including chargers in their "Replacement Phones". Replacement phones are offered to customers who call in to report their phone lost or stolen.

For example, the most expensive phone offered is $100 and is really the only phone worth purchasing. If you call in and say your phone is lost or stolen, you can get that phone for $45 shipped to your door overnight. Although you will just get a phone and charger and no booklets, it's a lot cheaper.

If you don't need a $100 phone, just a phone your clients can call you on to score a dime bag, then you could get one of the $20 or $10 phones for $10 or $5 respectively.

The catch is you need an existing phone and account, but you can open an account and then call back in 15 minutes later and report the phone as being stolen and get the reduced price. So for a $5 phone off ebay you can get the top of the line phone for $45.

Boost mobile virgin mobile tmobile pay as you go.
